Robert Svensson is playing in London tonight!
"Robert who", you might ask. Robert Svensson from Mixtapes & Cellmates! "Mixtapes & what", I hear you inquire. Well, I've never been a big fan of that band so just forget about it. There's this guy called Robert Svensson and he's done a solo album that features such Swedish indie heavy hitters such as Markus KrunegÄrd (Laakso) and Adam Olenius (Shout Out Louds) on guest vocals. You can listen to the album on Svensson's Myspace. It sounds ok, maybe not life changing but pretty decent. He actually played Monto Water Rats last night, but I couldn't go to that show. Tonight's he's playing at Metro. I've got something I have to do this evening but I will try and make it down to check him out, I reckon it can be pretty sweet live.

Let's try and get excited by a Shout Out Louds gig, shall we?
So, Shout Out Louds are once again returning to these shores to half-rock out. I've seen them enough times already, but still I'm going to see them next week. They're good live! Yes, they are. They've got a nice groove going, and unlike other bands like them there's a bit of energy in there as well. I wasn't too keen on the last album, but there are some cracking tunes on it nevertheless. They're plaing Dingwalls in London, a venue that can get crazy hot. Oh well, I guess there will be beer in the bar to cool us all down. Below are the dates and a 4 year old song that never became the monster hit it could have been:

6 August 2008 - Dingwalls, London
7 August 2008 - Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh (The Edge Festival)
8 August 2008 - Barfly, Liverpool
9 August 2008 - Concorde 2, Brighton (At Home By The Sea Festival)

Then they're coming back in September too:

2 September 2008 - 229 Club, London

Shout Out Louds to the UK! In April! Impossible?! No! Yes!

They've been here a lot in the last few years, but now Shout Out Louds are coming back to do some more shows. They're always good live, and always worth seeing. Nice that they're playing Bush Hall, I haven't been there that much lately and it's a cute little venue.

April:
05 - The Cockpit Leeds
06 - Carling Academy 2 Newcastle
07 - Speakeasy Belfast
09 - King Tuts Glasgow
10 - Bush Hall London
11 - Ruby Manchester

Shout Out Louds - Impossible

Oh yeah, Lykke Li was bloody brilliant last night! You should go and see her if you get the chance. I even enjoyed her take on the first verse of A Tribe Called Quest's "Can I kick it?".

Ah, sweet reminiscing...
A couple of days ago The Music Slut posted the Ratatat (not Ratata, unfortunately) remix of Shout Out Louds' "The Comeback" which is from their remix EP released in 2006. It's great stuff, have a listen to it here through TMS.

I wasn't that keen on SOL's last album, but this track made me remember how good they once were. Ah! I think it's time for another comeback, please.
