Pretty Whores of Manhattan = The New The Hives?
You might have got bored of The Hives long before they started doing Christmas songs with Cyndi bloody Lauper. In fact, you might think that they haven't done anything really decent for 8 years. A valid argument, I think. Maybe you yearn for them to just go back to their roots and record some straight up dirty rock'n'roll tracks, and leave Pharrell etc out of it. Well, you might be hoping for a lost cause, and I think you should just accept the facts that The Hives will never be (or be better than) The Hives you used to love. Do not despair though, there are other bands out there who try to pen those rock tunes that your heart yearn so much. One of them is the awfully named Pretty Whores of Manhattan from Sweden's South West Coast. Give the below MP3 a spin, who knows - you might dig it - like a retarded undertaker!

The Hives and Cyndi Lauper - A Christmas Duel

Not too bad, for a Christmas song. Hopefully they won't make a whole album together.

New Lo-Fi-Fnk song!
On the new Kitsune compilation (Kitsune Maison 6 - that you can buy here) there's a new song by Lo-Fi-Fnk. The song is called "Want U" and it's (as you'd expect) just as good as anything from their brilliant 2006 album "Boylife" (that you can get for about £5.50 here). Apparently, the band are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to "Boylife". How exciting! Hope we won't have to wait too long for it to come out, and then some UK dates would be nice.

London club night for Swedish pop lovers
If you think Stop Us Not write too much about guys with guitars, girls with crazy fringes (yeah!) and not enough flesh exposed, and that we're lacking that Popjustice vibe - you should definitely head over to Scandipop. They're really down with the slick pop stuff that's is big in Scandinavia. They've also got a monthly club night in London (every third Thursday of the month). If I was 10 years younger, single and more into my pop music, I'm sure I'd be a regular, but now I'm not just really into all that cheese. Good luck to them though! Good luck.
