Love is All - Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen - 21 May 2008 - Live review
I managed to watch most of the first half of the Championship League final yesterday before I went to see Love is All play. I was a bit surprised how many people were at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, especially since there was a real ghost town vibe on the streets of east London during the game. The opening band was marvellous, but the main support were so annoying that I had to leave the room. When Love is All played the place was pretty packed, and they played a whole lotta new songs. It was a good set, but even though the new songs sounded alright I wasn’t exactly blown away. Being tired and drunk might not have helped. I’m looking forward to seeing them again after I’ve heard their new album. Thumbs up though for them putting on a good show!

PS: They had a CDR for sale with 4 covers on it that I bought. Their cover of Prince’s “Darling Nikki” is on their Myspace page. I need some s0ber sleep before I can comment on the CD.

Ok, three gigs with Moto Boy might be a bit much (I hope he'll be as amazing live as I imagine), maybe choose just two of them. Anyway, the Love is All gig will be fantastic, and so will Jens Lekman's. We know this for sure.

Love is all - playing London in May
Last time they played London, Love is all played at Cargo. This time around they’ll play around the corner at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Love is all are fantastic, so you better get your tickets now and put the date into your diary. If it wasn’t always so packed out, I’d go to Kick and play some foosball before the show. Oh yeah, the day is Wednesday 21 May 2008 - see you at the front! Here’s a song from an old Love is all 7”, while we wait to get our dirty hands on some new shiny songs.

James Ausfahrt

Last month I bought James Ausfahrt’s “Party for the Arty people/Arty for the Party people” (for some reason I bought it on LP, CD and cassette - hooray for triple formats!). There are twenty-two tracks on the album, and even though it’s not that great throughout, there are some fantastic tracks on it. James Ausfahrt (a.k.a . Agent Simple a.k.a. Åke Strömer) sounds a bit like Jens Lekman, Beat Happening, Jonathan Richman and Kleenex Girl Wonder. On some of the tracks it sounds as if he’s almost have had too much fun in the studio, and he seems to have forgotten to write actual songs in favour of some wacky experimenting. Apparently he’s now a member of Love is All too, which hopefully means that he’ll do some shows too whenever they come over. You can buy “Party for the arty…” here. “Lovesong no 75” is the first track from the album, and it’s a corker! Give it a spin.
